Robert Eggers is preparing for another installment of the horror genre in which, following in the footsteps of Nosferatuwill board another creature.
Eggers' next feature film, confirmed by Deadline, will be Werwulf with whom he will collaborate again with Focus Features After the great success of the aforementioned Nosferatuwhich became the studio's second highest-grossing film at the United States box office with $90.5 million.
Eggers will digest Werwulf with script co-written with Vision (The Northman). Both will produce the project alongside Focus Features, with Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus serving as executive producers.
THR adds the following about Werewulf:
“Although details are scarce, sources say The story takes place in 13th century England. The script also includes period-accurate dialogue and has translations and annotations for those unfamiliar with Old English..
“Eggers originally planned to shoot the feature in black and white, but that is no longer the case.
“Suffice it to say that, given the setting and dialect, Eggers promises another deep dive into a murky, disguised and violent period, befitting his work, which has earned him a loyal following.
Focus Features set the theatrical release of Werwulf for December 25, 2026.
All of Eggers' previous projects, The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman, y Nosferatuwere made in collaboration with Focus Features. In the case of The Witch y The Lighthousethese were distributed in the national market by A24, and in the international market by Universal. Focus is an independent film production company subsidiary of Universal, owned by Comcast.
