This has undoubtedly been one of the best weeks for Robert Eggers. The filmmaker is enjoying success with the theatrical release of the horror hit Nosferatuwhich has just been nominated for 4 Oscars, in the categories of Photography, Costume Design, Production Design, and Hair and Makeup.

Additionally, this week it was announced that Eggers' next project will be Werwulfcollaborating again with Focus Features, and now Deadline reveals that the director has just close a deal with TriStar Pictures to write and direct a new installment of Labyrinth.

With plot details to be discovered later, the source confirms that The film is not a remake of Jim Henson's 1986 classic, but rather a sequel.

Eggers will write the script with Visionwith whom he co-wrote The Northman and the announced Werwulf.

Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus will produce the sequel alongside Lisa Henson, with Brian Henson serving as executive producer.

The original installment from the 80s starred Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie. The fantasy follows 16-year-old Sarah as she navigates a vast otherworldly labyrinth to rescue her little brother, Toby (Toby Froud), whom she has inadvertently sent to the kingdom of Goblin King Jareth (Bowie). Throughout her journey, Sarah encounters a variety of magical creatures and challenges that test her determination and maturity.

Labyrinth It is an extremely popular film among the audience, considered a cult classic.

Upon its theatrical release it did not have the best run, however, it was recognized by the industry with nominations for the Hugo Awards and the BBAFTA Film Awards. The practical effects were created by the iconic Jim Henson's Creature Shop.

The studio has been trying to make a new installment for a few years. The plans are now finalized with Eggers.

In the meantime, if you like Eggers' style, you can enjoy it in theaters Nosferatu. In this new version, Nosferatu/Count Orlok is played by Bill Skarsgårdaccompanied by Lily-Rose Depp (Silent Night), Nicholas Hoult (The Menu), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kraven the Hunter), Emma Corrin (The Crown), Simon McBurney (The Conjuring 2), Ralph Ineson (The Witch, The Northman), y Willem Dafoe (The Lighthouse) as Professor Albin Eberthart Von Franz, vampire hunter.
