Ryan Gosling confirms talks with Marvel to play Ghost Rider in the MCU

As part of the promotional tour for the premiere of science fiction Project Hail Maryits protagonist, Ryan Goslingvisited the Happy Sad Confused podcast, where he confirmed the possibility of joining the MCU.

The actor said he had held “some talks” with Marvelabout his possible incorporation al Marvel cinematic universe as Ghost Rider.

The actor's specific statements during the podcast were as follows:

“There have been some conversations. It's a complicated situation. We will remain hopeful.”

Ghost Rider was first adapted to film in 2007, starring Nicolas Cage. The sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeancepremiered in 2012. As a curious fact, Eva Mendesan actress and Gosling's long-time partner, starred in the first film.

Gosling jokingly commented to Happy Sad Confused host Josh Hororwitz: “I'm glad one of us was able to do it.”.

In 2022, Gosling publicly revealed his interest in the character, while denying speculation that linked him to the MCU at the time, for the role of Nova. His statements were well received by the president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, who at that time said:

“If Ryan wants to be Ghost Rider… Gosling is amazing. Ryan is amazing… I would love to find a place for him in the MCU. He's dressed like Ken on Venice Beach [filmando ‘Barbie’] and receives more media attention than the big movies that premiere that weekend. It's incredible.”
