Summer is over, but you still need some summery lightness for your ears? Then check out this new mix of an old Sam Paradise track. It is also the start of a series of self-distributed tracks and EPs.
Admittedly, I hadn't heard of Sam Paradise yet. But as a DJ, producer and A&R for well-known labels such as theBasement Discos and Miura Records, the Leipzig resident has certainly left his mark on the house and rave scene over the last five years.
The fact that he is now starting his own label, Paradise Traxx, has a rather unfortunate background: Sam Paradise is increasingly annoyed by external labels. Important aspects such as artist communication, demo feedback, promotion and payment of the units sold are often very difficult, says Sam. Or agreed-upon record receipts do not arrive. In this case, he can take over the publishing himself.
With “Carmen” in the newly created Acid Club Mix, Sam is now starting a series of self-releases. The original was released in 2019 on the UK label Satta Records. But – another nerve – there were problems with distribution, so the EP is no longer allowed to be available online.
The new mix of “Carmen” spans the gap between Sam's jazzy, deep house beginnings and his current sound, which also incorporates proggy and ravy elements. In this mix, the acid bubbles actually spin their circles through deep chords in a more subtle way. Classic and light – perfect for late summer nostalgia.
The new “Carmen” version will be officially released digitally on September 20, 2024. “Carmen (Acid Club Mix)” can now be heard exclusively as a premiere.
