The actress is in negotiations to join the cast of The Batman Part II of Matt Reevesand upon return Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight, according to reports from Nexus Point News.

No details of Johansson's possible role have been revealed. However, it would mark another big foray into a franchise for the actress, who this year starred in the reboot Jurassic World Rebirthwhich became a box office hit grossing more than $800 million worldwide. In recent days, it was announced that Johansson will star in the reboot of The Exorcist, which will be directed by Mike Flanagan for Universal Pictures and Blumhouse.

The sequel officially got underway in April 2022, with Reeves returning as director and co-writer with Mattson Tomlin. They both co-wrote the first installment.

The Batman (2022) became a box office success, accumulate more than $700 million in the global box officeand earn the title as the third highest-grossing film in times of pandemic.

The argument of The Batman focused on the Dark Knight's beginnings as he evolves into an experienced vigilante, uncovering corruption in Gotham City and learning more about his billionaire family's past.

Little is known about the plot of the sequel beyond knowing that “will take audiences back to Gotham.”

Reeves and Tomlin's script reached its final stages last June.

In addition to Pattinson, other members returning for the sequel include Andy Serkis like Alfred Pennyworth and Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon.

It seems we will see more of Barry Keoghan like the Joker, and there has even been talk of the possible return of Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/The Riddler, who stole scenes as the main villain of the first installment, balancing the horrors of real life with the theatricality of Batman, portraying on screen a murderer who, to much of the audience, reminded him of the murderer of the Zodiac by David Fincher. And of course, the Colin Farrell like the Penguin, who we already saw more of in the acclaimed spinoff series The Penguinde HBO.

The one who is not believed to be going to resume her role is Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman. If you remember the final moments of the first film, you'll understand why.
