The biopic The Apprenticewill portray on the big screen the origins of the businessman and former president of the United States, Donald Trumpplayed in the feature film by Sebastian Stan (Pam & Tommy, Avengers: Endgame).
The film follows Trump's rise to fame and his apprenticeship with the influential right-wing lawyer, political troubleshooter and his mentor, Roy Cohn, played by Jeremy Strong (Succession).
The feature film promises to be a provocative and electrifying portrait.
In addition to Stan and Strong, the rest of the main cast is made up of Maria Bakalova (Bodies Bodies Bodies, Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm) like Ivana Trump, and Martin Donovan (Big Little Lies, Lioness) as Fred Trump Sr. Catherine McNally, Charlie Carrick, Ben Sullivany Mark Rendall complete the cast.
Set in 1970s America, the film focuses on Trump's relationship with Cohn, who served as a senior adviser to Senator Joseph McCarthy during the Army-McCarthy hearings. Cohn rose to prominence as a US Justice Department prosecutor in the espionage trial of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, which led to their execution in 1953.
Ali Abbasi (Border, Holy Spider) directs the script written by Gabe Sherman (The Loudest Voice, Independence Day: Resurgence).
The biopic's producers include Daniel Bekerman, Jacob Jarek, Ruth Treacy, Julianne Forde, Abbasi and Louis Tisne. Executive producers include Amy Baer, Mark H. Rapaport, Emanuel Nuñez, Josh Marks, Grant S. Johnson, Phil Hunt and Compton Ross.
The Apprentice held its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last May.
It premieres In theaters on October 11.
