Sophia Bush joins 'Grey's Anatomy' season 21 in recurring role

The veteran medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy, announced the incorporation of Sophia Bush in regular role in season 21which is airing on ABC right now.

Bush, best known for her starring role in series such as One Tree Hill y Chicago P.D., will play Dr. Cass Beckman, a trauma surgeon described as “kind, funny and a little messy.”

They are debut will be in the sixth episode of the seasonwhich will air November 7, 2025 on ABC (via Variety).

This will not be Bush's first time wearing a doctor's uniform, in 2022 he starred in and produced the medical drama Good Sam from CBS. Other of his television roles are, Chicago Med, Nip/Tuck, Love, Victor, Partnery Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,y Easy . In the cinema he has been part of John Tucker Must Die, The Narrows, False Positiveand lending his voice to The Incredibles 2.

Among her upcoming projects is reprising her role as Brooke Davis in the sequel series to One Tree Hill from Netflix, which she will also executive produce alongside her co-star Hilarie Burton Morgan, who played Peyton Sawyer in the youth drama.

• CURIOUS FACT: Hilarie Burton Morgan had a guest starring role in three episodes of the ninth season of Grey’s Anatomy.

Bush hosts two podcasts. One that leads with Burton Morgan and Bethany Joy Lenz, dedicated to One Tree Hill called Drama Queens, and another in which he interviews celebrities and public figures called Work in Progress.

Last April, Grey’s Anatomy was renewed for a historic 21st season, extending its record as the longest-running primetime medical drama. The record was originally obtained in 2019.

The Shonda Rhimes-created series was an immediate hit upon its debut on ABC in 2005. In the decades since, it has weathered countless personnel changes, both in front of the screen and behind the scenes.

In season 19, leading lady Ellen Pompeo exited the series as a series regular, leaving Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey) and James Pickens Jr. (Richard Webber) as the only original members still in the cast.

Pompeo still participates in the series in a guest star role, in addition to being one of the producers. Rhimes executive produces alongside Betsy Beers, Marinis, Vernoff, Mark Gordon, Debbie Allen and Zoanne Clack.
