Netflix revealed new official looks to promote his new spy series, Black Dovesin addition to announcing the premiere date of its first season.
The streamer confirmed that The premiere was set for December 5, 2024. It consists of 6 episodes.
Black Doves is starring Keira Knightley (Boston Stranger, The Imitation Game) y Ben Whishaw (This Is Going to Hurt, A Very English Scandal) as an unlikely duo of spies and assassins.
The rest of the cast is made up Sarah Lancashire, Andrew Who, Adeel Akhtar, Find Bennett, Luther Fordy Tracey Ullman.
Joe Barton (The Lazarus Project) is the creator and screenwriter of Black Doves. Alex Gabassi (The Crown) y Lisa Gunning (The Power) are the directors.
The series seems made for those who like mysteries, intrigue, high-risk action, British ingenuity, knife fights and of course, Christmas, since its plot is set during the holiday season.
Knightley plays Helen Webb, a resourceful, down-to-earth and dedicated wife and mother, and a professional spy. For a decade, she has been transmitting the secrets of her husband – a politician – to the shadowy organization she works for: the Black Pigeons. When her secret lover Jason (Andrew Koji) is murdered, her spymaster, the enigmatic Reed (Sarah Lancashire), calls on Helen's old friend to keep her safe.
Wishaw, for his part, is Sam Young, an elegant, champagne-drinking assassin. But, having been sidelined since a failed job with disastrous consequences, he has returned home, to a London that has moved on without him. As his past threatens to catch up with him, his task is to protect Helen as she investigates who killed Jason and why.
“Together they embark on a mission that will lead them to uncover a vast, interconnected conspiracy that links London's murky underworld to a looming geopolitical crisis and leads them to question the cost of the moral decisions they have made.”
The series is the most recent proposal from Netflix United Kingdom, which this year had successes such as Baby Reindeer y The Gentlemen.
In recent weeks, Netflix announced that Black Doves had been renewed for a second season.
Executive producers include Barton, Jane Featherstone, Chris Fry, and Knightley. The directors are Alex Gabassi (The Crown) y Lisa Gunning (The Power). The producer is Harry Munday.
