Spyglass anuncia la rom-com slasher ‘Heart Eyes’ con Mason Gooding y Olivia Holt

After producing the two most recent installments of the saga Scream, Spyglass Media Group will venture into another project in the horror genre, announcing the slasher combined with rom-com, Heart Eyesfrom the director Josh Ruben (Werewolves Within, Scare Me), and the scriptwriters Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky), Phillip Murphy (The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard) y Michael Kennedy (Freaky).

Olivia Holt (Cruel Summer) y Mason Gooding (Scream 5, Scream VI) will co-star, playing colleagues who work overtime on Valentine's Day.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:

“When the Heart Eyes Killer attacks Seattle, the elusive matchmaking killer mistakes a pair of coworkers working overtime on Valentine's Day for a couple. Now they must spend the most romantic night of the year running for their lives.”

In a press release shared by Deadline, Ruben explained:

“My love of horror is rivaled only by my love of romantic comedies. I'm very excited to put on my most challenging genre switch to date: a brutal slasher in a nostalgic romantic comedy universe.”

Landon, Greg Gilreath y Adam Hendricks (M3gan, Totally Killer) from Divide/Conquer are producing. Gary Barber and Spyglass' Chris Stone will executive produce alongside Murphy.

We saw Gooding in the return of the Scream saga in the 2022 and 2023 installments, playing Chad Meeks-Martin, as part of the “Core Four” group. It was suspected that he had succumbed to his injuries in the last film, but it was revealed that he is actually alive. It has not been revealed if he will reprise his role in the next installment, Scream VII. Gooding also starred Love Victor from Hulu and Booksmart by Olivia Wilde, the latter marking her film debut. She will soon be seen in the disaster comedy Y2K by Kyle Mooney.

Holt starred in the series Cruel Summer from Prime Video, and Cloak & Dagger from Freeform, in addition to appearing on Runaways from Hulu. Most recently, she starred in the horror comedy Totally Killer from Prime Video. Right now the rom-com is in production Jingle Bell Heist. He also signed for the comedy series Laid, which will be filmed after his current work commitment.
