Ingredients

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes

  • 2 tablespoons of butter

  • 1/4 cup of milk

  • Salt to taste

  • Black pepper to taste (optional)

Directions

  • Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into small, even pieces. 
    This helps it cook faster.
  • Place the sweet potatoes in a large pot and cover them with cold water. 
    Add a pinch of salt to the water.
  • Place the pan over medium heat and bring to a boil. 
    Cook the sweet potatoes until they are tender when pierced with a fork, which usually takes about 15-20 minutes.
  • When the sweet potatoes are ready, drain the water.
  • In a separate pan, heat the milk and butter over low heat until the butter melts completely.
  • Place the cooked sweet potatoes in a large bowl and mash them with a potato masher or fork.
  • Gradually add the milk and butter mixture to the mashed sweet potatoes, stirring until smooth. 
    You can adjust the amount of milk as needed to reach your desired consistency.
  • Season the puree with salt and black pepper to taste. 
    Keep in mind that the amount of salt can vary depending on your personal taste.
  • Serve hot sweet potato puree as a side dish for main dishes. 
    You can also add a little more melted butter on top before serving, if desired.
