Ingredients
1 cup white rice
4 cups of milk
1 can of condensed milk
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Lemon or orange peel (optional)
Cinnamon powder for sprinkling
Directions
- In a large pot, add the rice and enough water to cover it.Â
Cook the rice over medium heat until it is soft.Â
Drain the water. - In another pan, heat the milk over medium heat.Â
Add lemon or orange peel, if using.Â
Let the milk simmer gently for a few minutes to infuse the flavors. - Remove the lemon or orange peel and add the cooked rice to the pan with the hot milk.Â
Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the rice has absorbed most of the milk. - Add the condensed milk and continue cooking over low heat, stirring constantly, until the rice is very creamy and soft.Â
This usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes. - Remove the pan from the heat and add the vanilla essence, mixing well.
- Transfer the rice pudding to individual bowls or a serving plate.Â
Allow to cool at room temperature for a few minutes, then refrigerate for at least an hour to cool completely. - Before serving, sprinkle cinnamon powder over the rice pudding.
