The live-action series God of War ha found his Sif.
Teresa Palmer has been chosen to play Sif in the Prime Video live-action series. Sif is the Norse goddess of fertility and harvest, and wife of Thor in video games, known for her golden hair.
Palmer joins the recently announced signing of Ryan Hurst to play the leading role as Kratos, in the series produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios. As a curious fact, Hurst lent his voice to Thor in the video game God of War: Ragnarok.
Palmer is known for her work in film on projects such as I Am Number Four, The Grudge 2, Take Me Home Tonight, Warm Bodies, The Choice, Triple 9, Lights Out, Hacksaw Ridge, Berlin Syndromey The Fall Guy. His most recent projects are television series The Last Anniversay, Mix Tapey The Family Next Door.
Based on the ancient mythology-themed PlayStation video game, the series from the writer, showrunner and executive producer Ronald D. Moore (Outlander, For All Mankind), God of Warfollows father and son, Kratos and Atreus, on their journey to spread the ashes of his wife and mother, Faye. Throughout their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father to be a better human being.
Kratos is a Spartan by birth and a god by nature. Raised in a martial culture, he rose to command armies in the service of his homeland until one day he made a fateful pact with Ares, the Greek god of war, and lost his soul in exchange for victory in battle.
Over the course of 10 successful games, Kratos defeated mortals, creatures, and gods alike. In the process, He became an iconic pop culture character., Known for his stoic nature, undeniable combat skills, and tragic past.
In the live action series, Kratos' story will closely follow the path of the previous two games as he deals with something new: his ten-year-old son, Atreus.. This father-son dynamic began a new chapter in the legendary series and will be the driving force of the new series.
Prime Video greenlit two seasons. Pre-production is already underway in Vancouver and casting has already begun.
The series God of War is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions.
Executive producers are Moore, Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Jeff Ketcham, Hermen Hust, Roy Lee, and Brad Van Arragon.
Frederik E.O. Toye (The Boys, Shogun) will direct the first two episodes.
