In less than a month, New Line Cinema will be released in theaters Evil Dead Rise from the writer and director Lee Croninand while we are waiting for the return of the saga Evil DeadTHR announces that The filmmaker has already agreed on his next project that will have his home again at New Line.
It is an original horror film, titled Thawqwhich will be led by Cronin. The filmmaker will also rewrite the script written by Jeremy Passmore (San Andreas, remake Red Dawn). Said script was sold to Gunpowder & Sky by Van Toffler and David Gale (50 States of Fright). The duo will produce the feature alongside Aperture’s Adam Goldworm.
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
“Set years after the ice caps melted and sea levels rose, Thaw’s story centers on a group of survivors at sea looking for a new home. Their prayers are answered with the discovery of a habitable town, that is, until they come across a new nightmare that lives just below the surface of the water.
Cronin has his own connections to Gunpowder & Sky, having worked on the company-produced series and Sam Raimi, 50 States of Fright. He previously wrote and directed the A24 horror drama, The Hole in the Ground (the cursed forest in our country), with which he debuted as a feature film scriptwriter and director.
Evil Dead Rise For its part, it will be released in theaters on April 21, 2023. During this weekend it will be screened at the Overlook Film Festival.
