The prequel series about Alienprepared by FXel showrunner Noah Hawley (Legion, Fargo), y Ridley Scottdirector of the original installment, as executive producer, has announced its official title.

Alien: Earth is the official title of the prequel seriesaccording to information from John Landgraf, president of the FX Networks network (via Variety).

With filming completed in recent weeks on location in Thailand, Hawley told the outlet some details of the process of making a high-profile series like Alien:

“We just finished production, so now I'm in the long post-production stage dealing with the visual effects.

“It’s a very big show. It’s nice to spend some time with it. The first year of anything, you want to feel like you’re not up against the wall in terms of time. I’ve seen four of the eight hours of director’s cuts and I’ve been involved in the process of figuring out, cinematically, what it wants to be. It’s one of my favorite parts of making a show.”

Hawley has previously collaborated with FX, on its series Legionand the recently nominated for multiple Emmy awards, Fargo.

Landgraf is already thinking about Alien: Earth as a series with a future:

“We are quite optimistic about 'Alien: Earth' and we have told him [a Hawley] “Assuming, as we hope, that ‘Alien: Earth’ is a returning television series, we want him to focus on writing at least two seasons before returning to a potential sixth season of ‘Fargo.’”

These new statements go hand in hand with what Landgraf said on another occasion about the television project, which he described as a “great imaginative reinvention” of the franchise Alien and compared it to Hawley's work, the FX hit, Fargo. He also confirmed that the show is “designed to be an ongoing series.”
