On the afternoon of this Thursday, July 18, Prime Video will premiere the season 4 finale from the popular series The Boys.
The show created by Erik Kripkedraws a story that satires the role of superheroes, presenting a world where they abuse their power and cross unthinkable limits. Its first season premiered on the streamer in 2019, becoming an immediate hit with both critics and audiences. After the premiere of the fourth season last June, Kripke revealed that the fifth season will be the final season.
The poster for the season four finale shows us Homelander (Anthoy Starr) walking on the White House lawn, indicating that his arrival at the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States is imminent.
In addition to the poster, The Boys made a slight modification to the previous official title of the season finale. The eighth episode of the fourth season previously titled “Assassination Run” Now it is simply called “Season Four Finale”.
The change follows the attempted assassination of former president and current Republican candidate in the electoral contest, Donald Trump, last weekend during a rally in Pennsylvania, where he was shot in the ear.
Also A notice was attached to the beginning of the episodewhich explains the following:
“The Boys season finale contains scenes of fictional political violence, which some viewers may find disturbing, especially in light of the injuries and tragic loss of life suffered during the attempted assassination of former President Trump. The Boys is a fictional series that was filmed in 2023, and any scene or plot similarities to these real-world events are coincidental and unintentional.
“Amazon, Sony Pictures Television and the producers of The Boys reject, in the strongest possible terms, any type of real-world violence.”
The poster and disclaimer are at the end of this note.
The fourth season of The Boys delves deeper into Homelander's (Starr) political ambitions as he becomes increasingly aligned with presidential candidate Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit). This despite the fact that the leader of the Seven faces a murder trial for the killing of a Starlight supporter during Season 3.
At the start of the season four premiere, there were negative reviews of the new season, citing reasons such as it being too “woke” as well as a very politicized storyline. Interestingly, it has always tackled political themes. Kripke had a response to those criticisms in an interview with THR: “Go see something else.”
