Point Break will come to the small screen.

The classic film from the 90s will become a series with AMC. The chain is developing the project based on the 1991 film starring Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves, Lori Petty and Gary Busey, according to reports from Deadline.

David Kalstein (Butterfly) is developing the series with the backing of Alcon Television Group and AMC Studios.

The 1991 classic, directed by Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow and written by W. Peter Iliff, revolved around Reeves as rookie FBI agent Johnny Utah, who infiltrates the Ex-Presidents, a gang of Southern California surfers who rob banks. The Ex-Presidents, wearing masks of Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, Lyndon B. Johnson and Lyndon Johnson, are led by Bodhi (Swayze), and Utah is swept away by his reckless lifestyle before a wild chase and reunion amid deadly waves.

The series is set 35 years after the events of the original film and focuses on a dangerous gang of thieves linked to the Ex-Presidents gang.

Kalstein will write the script and executive produce alongside Alcon co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, and Ben Roberts.

AMC won the rights to Point Break in what is described as “a highly competitive situation.” The network previously revived another movie classic with the series Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampirewhose third season will premiere in 2026.

Kalstein was the co-executive producer of Butterfly, NCIS: Los Angeles, Quantico y Treadstone. He developed series such as Jade City from Peacock and Quantum Spy wrote NBC.

In 2015, Point Break A remake by director Ericson Core was released in theaters, starring Edgar RamĂrez, Luke Bracey, Teresa Palmer, and Delroy Lindo.
