The 'Predator' saga will release two films in 2025; The door is open for a new 'Alien vs. Predator

After the great success of Prey (2022), 20th Century Studios greenlit film development Predator: Badlandswith which he is expanding the universe of the saga Predator (o Predator).

According to statements from 20th Century Studios executive Steve Asbell, Predator will release two films in 2025. One of them is the aforementioned Badlandswhich in recent days announced its release date for November 7, 2025while the other is about a secret project.

In an interview with THR, Asbell explained that everything originated with the success of Prey and new ideas from Trachtenberg, while delving into Badlands:

“Yes, a Predator movie will be released in theaters. I will tell you very simply. After Predator became a hit, Dan [Trachtenberg] He came back and said he didn't want to do Predator 2. And we said, “What do you want to do?” And he threw out a bunch of ideas that were really crazy but really cool. In fact, we've done two of them. Two will premiere next year. I can't talk about one yet, but the other is the live-action Predator movie with Elle Fanning that just finished filming in New Zealand. It will be released in theaters sometime next year.”

“It is titled Badlands y It's an absolutely crazy idea. It's a science fiction movie, but it's not what everyone thinks. And I mean it's amazing. It's crazy. But we trust Dan.”

Asbell confirms that the other project Predator which is kept secret, has also been directed by Trachtenberg, and will also premiere in 2025, prior to Badlands:

“There is a second Predator movie that we have different plans for. “Dan has directed both.”

“There is a secret Predator movie that will be released before the one that opens in theaters, but I can't say anything about it yet.”

With the success that 20th Century Studios is enjoying following the theatrical release of Alien: Romulus, and the possibility of a new Alien vs. PredatorAsbell leaves the door open:

“Probably.”

“It wouldn't be the way you imagine. That's the question. Not the way it will simply be called Alien vs. Predator or something similar to the original movies. If we do, They will be created organically from these two franchises that we have continued with characters we fell in love with and those characters will be combined… maybe. But we haven't reached that point. And we are not going to do it just like that.”

Badlands will mark the first theatrical release of the saga Predator In seven years, after the premiere of The Predator (2018).

Let us remember that the successful Prey (2022), was an exclusive premiere of Hulu (USA) and Star+ (Latin America), where it became the best premiere of all time on the streamer. Critics and audiences called it a great chapter in the horror franchise, and the best since the original (there are seven films in the saga). The plot of Prey focused on the first encounter between the Predator and the human race. This was reason enough to believe that 20th Century Studios would consider releasing Badlands directly in theaters.

No details have been given about the plot, however it is known that Badlands It is not a sequel to Preybut a new story set in the future.
