We have very good news for those who are patiently waiting for the arrival of the reboot of The Crowby the director Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Hunstman, Ghost in the Shell), which has Bill Skarsgård (saga IT, Barbarian) in a leading role playing Eric Draven.
The latest news from Lionsgateconfirm that the studio has made some changes to its release schedule, and has set the final release date of the reboot The Raven for June 7, 2024.
This release date was previously reserved for Ballerinathe spinoff of the franchise John Wick starring Ana de Armas, which Lionsgate has postponed to June 6, 2025, as we tell you here.
The Raven is a modern reimagining of James O'Barr's graphic novel, starring Skarsgard, the singer and songwriter, FKA Twigs (Honeyboy), Danny Huston (Succession), Laura Birn (Foundation), Sami Bouajila (A Son), y Jordan Bolger (The Woman King).
It follows the story of Eric Draven (Skarsgard), who the night before his wedding, is murdered along with his fiancée (Twigs) by members of a violent gang. On the anniversary of his death, Eric is resurrected and sets out to find his killers and avenge the murder of his fiancée, with the help of a mystical bird.
- In 1994 the material was adapted to the big screen, in the film starring Brandon Lee, in which it would mark his last role, after he died after being accidentally shot while filming a scene for the film.
- The Crow by Alex Proyas, is considered a cult classic, often remembered for its dark and brooding aesthetic, and alternative rock soundtrack. The film had three sequels and a television series.
Sanders previously described the project as: “Beautiful, dark, poetic, and at times, disturbing. It is a story of love, loss, pain and revenge.”
The script was written by Zach Baylin (King Richard) y Will Schneider.
Among the producers we find Sam and Edward R. Pressman (The Crow original, American Psycho), Victor Hadida (Resident Evil, Silent Hill), Molly Hassell (Braven), John Jencks (Guns Akimbo, Honest Thief).
The $50 million-budgeted production was filmed on location in Prague and Munich.
SYNOPSIS:
“Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA Twigs) are brutally murdered when demons from their dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to exact ruthless revenge on his killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to right the wrongs.”
Do not forget, The Crow will be released in theaters on June 7, 2024.
