The good news continues for the remake Salem’s Lota new adaptation of the literary material of Stephen Kingby the scriptwriter and director Gary Daubermanwhich will finally be released this year, although not in theaters, but under exclusive release from MAX.
We already knew that it would be in October, although the exact date of its release on the streamer remained to be known, and it was the Total Film media that revealed that Salem’s Lot Premieres on Max on Thursday, October 3, 2024.
The original release of the remake had been planned for September 2022 in theaters, but following the merger of Warner Bros Discoverythe study Warner Bros. changed plans and opted to skip theaters and go straight to the streamer.
In the same media, Dauberman expressed his gratitude to King for his support in this new adaptation:
“I am extremely grateful for Steve’s support. Let’s just say he provided amazing support through some of the toughest parts of this journey and leave it at that.”
On his vision for the remake, Dauberman explained:
“It's always great to see different interpretations of vampires. That being said, it's been a while since I've seen a more traditional vampire movie, so I thought maybe it was time to watch one.”

“Haunted by an incident from his childhood, author Ben Mears returns to his hometown of Jerusalem's Lot in search of inspiration for his next book, only to discover that the town is under attack by a bloodthirsty vampire and his loyal servant.”

The remake stars Lewis Pullman (Top Gun: Maverick), Makenzie Leigh (The Assistanr), Bill Camp (The Queen’s Gambit), John Benjamin Hickey (The Good Wife), Nicholas Crovetti (Big Little Lies), Jordan Preston Carter (DMZ), Spencer Treat Clark (Gladiator), Cade Woodward (Avengers: Endgame), Debra Christofferson (9-1-1), Saw Asbaek (Game of Thrones), Alfre Woodard (Luke Cage), y William Sadler (When They See Us).
This is Dauberman's second feature film as a director. His debut marked him Annabelle Comes Home from the saga The spell. The creator of said franchise, James Wanis the producer of this remake with his company Atomic Monster.
Dauberman has written films such as Annabelle, Annabelle: Creation, Annabelle Comes Home y The Nunand has adapted material from Stephen King as IT and the sequel IT: Chapter Two.
Roy Lee y Mark Wolper accompany Wan as producers, with Dauberman as executive producer. New Line Cinema is the producer, with WB as distributor.
King's book, published in 1975, has been adapted twice for television. First in 1979 with a miniseries directed by Tobe Hooper, and then in 2004 with a TNT miniseries starring Rob Lowe. This is the first time that Salem’s Lot It is adapted for the big screen.
Some time after the novel was published, King expanded the story with short stories Jerusalem’s Lot y One for the Road.
