Lionsgate announced the release date of The Strangers: Chapter 2the second installment of the director's trilogy Renny Harlin (Cliffhanger, Deep Blue Sea, Die Hard 2) inspired by the horror franchise The Strangers.

The Strangers: Chapter 2 with will premiere in cinemas on September 26, 2025. The premiere poster is available at the end of the note.

If the date sounds to them, it is because it previously belonged to Saw XI. The eleventh delivery of Saw He left the Lionsgate premieres calendar for the moment and will get a new one later.

The first installment of the trilogy, The Strangers: Chapter 1premiered in cinemas in May 2024. And although he did not echo much between critics and genre fans, he had a good enough performance for Lionsgate ($ 35.2 MDD at the national box office, $ 48.1 MDD at the global box office), so that the study decided to continue continuing with the rest of the remaining films, which is incidentally Harlin rolled them subsequentlythat is, the three films were filmed one after another.

In the sequel, Madelaine Petsch (Riverdale, Jane) Retakes his role as Maya, The young woman who was stalked and attacked by the three strange masked (Dollface, Pin-Up Girl and Man in the mask), while he was in an isolated Airbnb in the forests of Venus, Oregon, next to her boyfriend, Ryan (Froy Gutiérrez).

The rest of the cast make it up Rachel Shenton (Switched at Birth), Gabriel Basso (Juror No. 2), y Mother Horvarth (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power).

In the first MAYA and Ryan movie they are forced to spend the night in an isolated Airbnb, after their car suffers a breakdown, where they are terrified from dusk to dawn by three strange masked. From there, Lionsgate plans to expand the history of new and unexpected ways with its sequelae.

And some of that we could see in the teaser trailer of Chapter 2 launched last October, in which another direction is taken.

In case you missed it, in the teaser (available below) we see Maya wake up in a hospital after the events of Chapter 1, before running and be collected by a car full of strangers.

One of the strangers soon soft a large knife before everyone puts the spooky masks with which the franchise fans are familiar. The advance ends with a family scene: someone hits a door strong and then says “Is Tamara here?” When the door opens.

This is a reminder of the beginning of the original film of 2008, when a Scott Speedman worries opens the door and a stranger asks the same question before everything takes a sinister turn.

The script of the trilogy was co -written by Alan R. Cohen y Alan Freedland (The Freak Brothers, Due Date).

Harlin previously complemented on the projects:

“Sin pretend to trivialize it or explain it too much, the second and third films are an exploration of where it arose [todo]. More than anything, they are the exploration of what could happen to a person, in this case, a young woman, who is a victim of such meaningless violence. What effect does that have on you mentally and physically, and what is your trip after that? It is an exploration of that more than anything. And I think we will answer many of the questions that fans of the original have and then we will go much further. At the end of the third movie, there are really more questions than answers.

The trilogy was launched in September 2022. It is based on the original 2008 cult film by Bryan Bertino, of which Harlin has confessed to being a fan.

The trilogy made its filming in Slovakia.

Courtney Solomon, Mark Canton, Christopher Milburn, Gary Raskin, Charlie Dombck and Alastair Birlingham are the producers of the trilogy, with Andrei Boncea, Dorothy Canton, and Roy Lee as executive producers.
