The terror indie 'The Wretched' launches sequel body horror

In May 2020, in the midst of the mass closure of cinemas worldwide for the Covid-19 Pandemia, IFC Midnight launched a terror proposal entitled The Wretchedwhich had a run in self -inemas, in addition to digital platforms and VOD, managing to collect $ 4 million worldwide.

Now, five years later, that welcome proposal for terror starts a sequel, The Wretched 2with the return of the screenwriters and directors, the brothers Brett Pierce y Drew T. Piercehis company Little Runway Productions, with Filming scheduled to start in September this year in Oregon (via Variety).

The Pierce brothers return as screenwriters, directors and producers. The casting is being done right now.

In a media statement, the Pierce brothers reveal that the sequel will be the most imaginable body horror:

“Independent terror has been claiming its place at the box office in recent years with films such as 'Terrifier 3' and 'Late Night With The Devil', and the public is looking forward to more of these original stories and voices. Simply It looks like the right time to bring our witch back, since it was born from our desire for more of our creature films that we were simply not obtaining. We are going to take this story and body terror to uncomfortable places.”

The original film follows a challenging teenager fighting with the imminent divorce of his parents, who faces a thousand -year witch who lives under the skin of the woman next door.

The sequel will expand that scope and terror to an entire town.

In The Wretched 2a police officer of a small town is involved in a series of cases of missing children only to discover that the demon that changes the skin has returned and has been attacking the families of their community for a century.

The 2019 film celebrated its premiere at Fantasia Fest in July 2019. After the Screening, IFC Midnight made an offer to acquire distribution rights in the United States. As commented at the beginning of the note, its premiere was during the pandemic in the self -inens in May 2020, where it exceeded one million dollars after a month on display.
