The box office hit, The Wild Robotannounced its streaming release date.
According to reports from Deadline, the animated film from Universal Pictures and Dreamworks Animation will be available on Peacock starting Friday, January 24, 2025.
The Wild Robottitled wild robot in the Spanish-speaking market of America, has grossed more than $324 million at the global box office since its release in September. It is also currently available to rent or buy on Prime Video, Apple TV, and other VOD platforms.
The animated film, based on the New York Times bestseller by Peter Brown, centers on an intelligent robot named Roz, who, after a shipwreck, becomes stranded on an uninhabited island. To survive the harsh environment, Roz forms bonds with the island's animals, including a clever fox, as well as caring for an orphaned baby goose.
Chris Sanders (Lilo & Stitch, The Call of the Wild, The Croods, How to Train Your Dragon) writes and directs the feature film, with a cast headed by Lupita Nyong'o lending her voice to Roz, Pedro Pascal lending his voice to the fox, Kit Connor lending his voice to the goose. Other cast members include Bill Nighy (The First Omen), Stephanie Hsu (Didi), Mark Hamill (Star Wars), Catherine O’Hara (Schitt's Creek), Matt Berry (The Book of Bobba Fett), y Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible).
Sanders confirmed in recent months that a sequel to The Wild Robot en DreamWorks Animation.
There are three Brown books; The Wild Robot Escapes It is the second book in the saga.
The animated film is produced by Jeff Hermann, with Dean DeBlois serving as executive producer.
