the filmmaker You West surprised locals and strangers again by announcing that it had obtained the green light from A24 to prepare the third installment of the world of slasher horror Xwhich this year marked the director’s return to genre cinema.
Prior to the premiere of X In theaters last March, West revealed that the film had a prequel called Pearlwhich had been shot in secret after finishing filming X.
And now, West is at it again. ahead of the premiere of Pearl in theaters this friday september 16the director confirms the third film, officially titled MaXXXinewhose plot is located in the year 1985after the events of X. (via Deadlines).
Mia Goth, one of the protagonists of Xand protagonist of Pearlwill resume one of the two roles played in X.
- Goth played two roles in X: to Maxine, the final girl, and to Pearl, a senior citizen and one of the villains of the story.

“Mia Goth will return and reprise one of the two roles she played in X. Follows Maxine (Goth), after the events of X, as the sole survivor continuing her journey to fame and setting out to make it big as an actress in 1980s Los Angeles..

For its part, the prequel Pearlwill be responsible for counting the promoted as the “X-traordinary origin story”of the character, setting his plot in 1918, decades before the events of ‘X’.

“Trapped on her family’s isolated farm, Pearl must tend to her ailing father under the bitter and domineering watch of her devoted mother. Craving for a glamorous life like the one she’s seen in the movies, Pearl’s ambitions, temptations, and repressions collide in the stunning Technicolor-inspired origin story of the iconic X villain.”
The cast is made up of Goth, David Corenswet, Tandi Wright, Matthew Sunderland, y Emma Jenkins-Purro.
The script was co-written by West and Goth. The film is produced by A24, Jacob Jaffke, Harrison Kreiss, and Kevin Turen, and executive produced by Goth, Dennis Cummings, Sam Levinson, Ashley Levinson, Karina Manashil, Scott Mescudi, and Peter Phok.
West is recognized by fans of horror movies for titles like The House of the Devil, V/H/S, Cabin Fever 2and of course, The Innkeepers. West has also directed episodes of series such as Scream from MTV, The Exorcist by fox, Chambers the Netflix, y Them: Covenant from Prime Video.
A24 will premiere Pearl in theaters September 16, 2022. Its world premiere was held at TIFF 2022.
