The sequel to Nia DaCostaexpands the world created by Danny Boyle y Alex Garland in 28 Years Laterreleased in theaters in June of this same year, but giving it a radical twist, according to studio reports.

The temple of bones is the second installment of a new trilogy that expands and continues the dystopian universe that we originally saw in 28 Days Later y 28 Weeks Later by Boyle.

The filming of 28 Years Later y 28 Years Later: The Bone Templewere made consecutively, a reason that makes it possible for cinema releases to take place with a wait of just seven months between both feature films.

Three weeks after Boyle wrapped production on 28 Years Later, DaCosta (Hedda, Candyman, The Marvels) filming began The Bone Temple.

The entire trilogy has a script written by Garland, with the potential return of Boyle as director of the third and final film.

The plot of 28 Years Later of Boyle, our takes place almost three decades after the events of the original 2002 installment. In The Bone Templethe virus will continue to spread, showing “more bloody violence and the rise of a cult figure in an England plagued by the infected,” where it seems the biggest threat to humanity could be… humanity itself.

The Bone Temple picks up the story shortly after the events of 28 Years Laterwhich culminated with the meeting of Spike (Alfie Williams) con Sir Jimmy Crystal (Jack O’Connell) and his gang of blonde Jimmies in velvet suits, with O'Connell as the story's main villain.

The sequel follows Spike, whom DaCosta calls “the connecting thread” between the films, as he is forced to join Jimmy's violent cult, which is about to collide with Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) and his Alpha virus carrier, Samson (Chi Lewis-Parry), one of the figures that attracted the most attention from the audience in this year's installment.

The Bone Temple will share with the audience more information about Dr. Kelson (Fiennes) and his dynamic with Samson, an Alpha whom he frequently sedates, but never attempts to kill. The plot It will also delve into the devastation caused by the virus in Englandexpanding the world and seeing other types of effects caused by the anger virus.

In the trailer we are offered a clue, with Kelson saying that the infection caused by the rage virus can be treated, remembering that the characters in the previous installment, 28 Years Later, were infected humans and not undead zombies. Kelson then poses a question that could change everything… “What do the infected see when they attack?”.

Alex Garland's script is said to have a particularly shocking third act, which supposedly provoked a strong reaction among those attending the screening, with a daring plot twist.

And as a curious fact, unlike the first film, there is no evidence that iPhones or handheld cameras dominated the production; instead, DaCosta adopts a more classic cinematic style.
