After showing the first official images, Searchlight Pictures share the first official trailer of the spy and conspiracy drama, Wild Horse Ninethe most recent of the filmmaker Martin McDonaghwhich leaves behind the Irish coastal melancholy portrayed in The Banshees of Inisherin to delve into another type of terrain far from home: Easter Island in Chile in the 70s.
The plot of Wild Horse Nine, set in Chile in 1973shortly before the coup d'état that overthrew Salvador Allende, follow CIA agents Chris (John Malkovich) and Lee (Sam Rockwell) on his journey from Santiago to Easter Island on a mission that will test his trust, his past and his loyalty.
The official synopsis adds that the couple is sent by the head of the office, MJ (Steve Buscemi), and that Chris's growing connection with two rebellious students, played by Mariana di Girólamo (To the south of the heart, Nobody saw us leave) y Aline Salas (The astronaut lovers), threatens to divert the entire trip.
The cast also includes Parker Posey (The White Lotus) y Tom Waits (Licorice Pizza).
McDonagh told Vanity Fair that the film “feels very current,” despite being set in an era that takes us back more than four decades, which makes sense given the subject matter: American intervention, political corruption, moral self-justification, and men who contemplate too late the devastation they themselves helped create.. The filmmaker also described the film as a reflection on guilt, sin and the retrospect of a lifewith Malkovich playing a veteran agent in failing health trying to write his memoirs while dealing with his past.
Take a look at the trailer at the end of the note.
