The life of the pop star, also known as the princess of pop, Britney Spearswill be coming to the big screen.

Universal Pictures acquired the rights to the singer's best-selling autobiography, “The Woman in Me”, released in October 2023, in what THR describes as a “competitive situation.”

The biopic will be directed by Jon M. ChuThe filmmaker has directed feature films such as Crazy Rich Asians, Now You See Me 2, In the Heights, Step Up 3Dthe musical that is about to premiere Wickedand the documentary Never Say Never by Justin Bieber.

Marc Platt (Wicked, La La Land) will be the producer.

Spears celebrated the news with the following message on her social media:

“I’m excited to share with my fans that I’ve been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt. He’s always made my favorite movies… stay tuned.”

Spears' autobiography, The Woman in Mesold 2.5 million copies in the United States. The audiobook version, narrated by Michelle Williams, was the fastest-selling audiobook in Simon & Schuster history. It was the best-selling audiobook on Spotify in 2023.

Since its publication in October 2023, the book has made headlines on numerous occasions. One of the most replicated stories being her relationship with Justin Timberlake.
