'Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery' celebrates limited theatrical release with new poster

With its world premiere held at the last Toronto Film Festival, Netflix starts this November 26he limited release in select theaters of the United States, of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mysterythe third installment of the universe Knives Out from the screenwriter and director Rian Johnson.

The streamer will give it two weeks in theaters. Later, the December 12will be available on Netflix in everyone.

The limited release in theaters is a strategy of the streamer put into action for some of its high-profile feature films, in order to comply with the requirement of the Oscar Academy, which asks all those films seeking nominations to be screened in theaters for a minimum of time.

The “whodunnit” features the return of Daniel Craig in which it is described as “Benoit Blanc's most dangerous case so far.”

The plot deals with a murder in a church that Blanc tries to solve.

In more words and details, the story features an idealistic young priest named Jud Duplencity (played by Josh O’Connor of Challengers y The Crown), who is sent to help the charismatic and passionate Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin of Sicario), but it soon becomes evident that all is not well in the church.

Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) returns for his most dangerous case yet in the third and darkest chapter of Rian Johnson's murder mystery novel. When young priest Jud Duplenticy (Josh O'Connor) is sent to help the charismatic and passionate Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin), it becomes clear that all is not well in the church.

Wicks' modest but devout group includes devout religious Martha Delacroix (Glenn Close), prudent gardener Samson Holt (Thomas Haden Church), tenacious lawyer Vera Draven (Kerry Washington), aspiring politician Cy Draven (Daryl McCormack), local doctor Nat Sharp (Jeremy Renner), best-selling author Lee Ross (Andrew Scott), and concert cellist Simone Vivane (Cailee). Johnson produces the feature film alongside Ram Bergman, with Tom Karnowski as executive producer, and Leopold Hughes as co-producer.

The so-called “whodunit cinema” had a kind of resurgence with the release of the first film, which became the second highest-grossing original film of 2019, in addition to having earned the recognition of critics and the audience, and that of colleagues in the film industry, being recognized with an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay (Johnson).
