The original series of Netflixproduced by Amazon MGM Studios, filmed its first season in Romania. In late 2023, it was revealed that the second season would move production to County Wicklow in Ireland.

Anna Mallet, Netflix Production VIP at EMA added:

“Ireland has a thriving production sector and Netflix has a vested interest in its long-term potential. In recent years we have invested substantially in Irish-made productions such as 'The Siege of Jadotville', 'The Wonder', 'Bodkin' and 'Vikings: Valhalla'. Netflix plans to produce Marian Keyes' 'Grown Ups' and also Lisa McGee's 'How to Get to Heaven' from the Belfast series in Ireland. We are very proud to now bring you the cultural giant that is Wednesday to Ireland, as the country's largest production will create jobs and add millions of euros to the Irish economy.”

The media reveals that Ireland recently improved its tax incentive for film and television of Section 481, increasing the limit on eligible expenses of 70 million euros ($75 million dollars) at 125 million euros ($134 million dollars) per projectand further expanded credit until 2028.

Other recent Hollywood productions that were filmed in the country include horror projects Abigail from Universal Pictures, and The Watchers from Warner Bros.

Season 2 of Wednesday features the return of Jenna Ortega in a leading role as Merlina/Wednesday, as well as Catherine Zeta-Jones like Morticia, Luis Guzman like Gomez/Homer, Isaac Ordonez like Pugsley/Pericles, and Luyanda Unita Lewis-Nyawoas Sheriff Ritchie Santiago, in regular roles. Emma Myers like Enid, Joy Sunday like Bianca, Hunter Doohan like Tyler, Victor Dorobantu como Thing, Moosa Mostafa like Eugene, and georgie farmer like Ajax. While Fred Armisen will return as Uncle Lucas/Uncle Fester, in a guest-starring role.

The newly announced cast members are Thank you Newton (Westworld) playing Dr. Fairburn; Frances O’Connor (The Missing), Haley Joel Osment (The Kominsky Method), Heather Matarazzo (The Princess Diaries), Joonas Suotamo (saga Star Wars), Steve Buscemi (Fargo), Billie Piper (Scoop), Evie Templeton (Return to Silent Hill), Owen Painter (Tiny Beautiful Things), y Noah Taylor (Law & Order: Organized Crime). Also Joanna Lumley (Fool Me Once) bringing Grandmama Addams to life, and Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), in charge of giving life to Uncle Lucas in the film franchise The Addams Familyas a guest star in the second season in a role whose details have not been given.

The title of the first episode of Season 2 is “Here We Woe Again,” it was written by Millar and Gough, and is directed by Burton.

Burton is an executive producer and director of several episodes of both seasons. Steve Stark and Andrew Mittman serve as other executive producers along with Kevin Miserocchi, Charles Addams, Kayla Alpert, Jonathan Glickman, Gail Berman, Tommy Harper and Kevin Lafferty. Jenna Ortega will receive an executive producer credit for the second season. MGM Television is the studio behind the series.
