The Dresden musician and artist Moritz Simon Geist actually wanted to present his new album in January, but then some demos got in the way. So today is the catch-up date: On “Don’t Look At Me” Geist clearly shifts the focus away from the dance floor. The algorithmically composed ambient sound is played entirely by robots, including a specially developed sound organism that reacts to attention – the more gaze, the more dissonance. The result is a calm, yet conceptually sharp examination of the digital attention economy.
At the UT Connewitz the album will not only be presented live, but will also be classified through an artist discussion with Kathrin Passig. The evening is complemented by the interactive sound installation “The Sonificator” by Carl Ahner and Paul Werner.
