The Social Reckoningthe sequel to the acclaimed biopic The Social Networkannounced a new signing.
Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners, Lovecraft Country) joined the project Aaron Sorkinand the study Sony PicturesDeadline reported.
Sorkin, screenwriter of the original installment, will be the screenwriter and director of the new installment. The script was inspired by a series of articles that Jeff Horwitz wrote for The Wall Street Journal, known as The Facebook Files.
By the way, It will not be a direct sequel.
Mosaku joins those previously announced, Jeremy Strong (Succession) como Mark Zuckerberg; Mikey Madison (Anora) as Frances Haugen, the data engineer turned whistleblower who went to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Wall Street Journal with her information; Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) as former WSJ tech reporter Jeff Horowitz, who led the leak of Facebook files, and Bill Burr (The King of Staten Island) in an as yet undisclosed role.
Details of Mosaku's role were not announced.
We enjoyed Mosaku this year in the acclaimed horror thriller Sinners by Ryan Coogler. Previously he participated in projects such as Deadpool & Wolverine, His Housey Damilola, Our Loved Boy. On television he has been part of Loki, Black Mirror, We Own This Cityy Lovecraft Country.
Described as a companion piece to The Social NetworkSorkin's script tells the true story of how Frances Haugen (Madison), a young Facebook engineer, enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz (White), a Wall Street Journal reporter, to undertake a dangerous journey that ends up revealing the social network's best-kept secrets.
The acclaimed 2010 film focused on the creation of Facebook, now known as Meta.
As we can see, the sequel instead will explore the story behind The Wall Street Journal's The Facebook Filesan explosive series of articles published in October 2021 that They exposed the inner workings of the largest social network in the world and multiple damage that this cause. The series of damaging WSJ articles revealed the grisly details of Facebook's inner workings.
Sorkin's script will focus on The company's own reports about Facebook's negative approaches to teens, tweens, violence, and countries outside the United States. As well as the disinformation that proliferates and causes violence, and how it contributed to the attempted coup on January 6, 2021.
The sequel will be produced by Sorkin, Todd Black, Peter Rice, and Stuart Besser.
The 2010 drama, written by Sorkin and directed by David Fincher, inspired by the book by Ben Mezrich, The Accidental Billionairestells us the story of the creation and consolidation of Facebook. During the climax we witness how Mark Zuckerberg He has taken it upon himself to distance himself from his entire environment to achieve success, but real life has continued for more than a decade and there would be a lot of material to explore and address in this present.
The Social Network is one of the highest-rated films in Fincher and Sorkin's filmography; was winner of three Oscarsincluding Best Adapted Screenplay for Sorkin. At the global box office it grossed more than $226 million dollars. It was distributed by Sony Pictures.

The production start date is expected to be announced soon.
Sony Pictures is planning the theatrical release of The Social Reckoning to October 9, 2026.
