The popular video game Until Dawn PlayStation is preparing a film adaptation of the horror genre. The development of Sony Pictures' Screen Gems project continues, reporting the first news about its cast.
The cast will be led by young rising stars, Ella Rubin (The Idea of You), Michael Cimino (Never Have I Ever), Ji-young Yoo (Expats), y Odessa A’zion (Hellraiser) via Deadline.
David F. Sandberg (Annabelle Creation, Lights Out, Shazam) will be the director. The most recent draft of the script was written by Gary Dauberman (IT, The Nun, Annabelle). Blair Butler (The Invitation, Polaroid) wrote the original draft.
The official plot is currently a secret, but The film is described as a terrifying, R-rated love letter to the horror genre, centering on an ensemble cast.
The hit horror video game follows eight friends who are trapped together in a remote mountain retreat and discover that they are not alone. Trapped by fear and with very high tensions, they must fight against their fear if they want to spend the night unscathed.
Asad Qizilbash, Head of PlayStation Productions, and Product Director of PlayStation Studios, Sony Interactive Entertainment, said in a press release:
“At PlayStation Productions, we are always looking to find creative and authentic ways to adapt our beloved games that our fans will enjoy. Together with Screen Gems, we've assembled a fantastic cast of new characters that builds on our already stellar film team and their vision for the adaptation. “We are excited to reveal more about the film soon.”
Dauberman will produce the adaptation with his company Coin Operated alongside Mia Maniscalco, Sandberg, Lotta Losten, Roy Lee, and Qizilbash and Carter Swan of PlayStation Productions.
In addition to The Idea of YouWe can see Rubin in the miniseries Masters of the Air of Apple TV+, and in the upcoming premieres of Adult Childrenand the winner of the Palme d'Or, Anora. We will see it later in Fear Street: Prom Queen the Netflix.
Cimino is best known for the series Love, Victory Never Have I Ever. She also had roles in the movies Senior Year y Annabelle Comes Home. Right now he is filming the drama Motorheads from Prime Video.
Yoo, for his part, had a prominent role in the Prime Video limited series, Expats. He previously starred in the coming-of-age Smoking Tigers. The film will be released later Freaky Tales.
