Artists Equity, production company of Ben Affleck y Matt Damonhas given the green light to the development of a Feature film focused on Hulk Hogan's legal battle with Gawker Mediawhich will be titled, Killing Gawkerreports THR.

The script was written by Charles Randolph (winner of the Oscar for best screenplay for The Big Short). Randolph adapted the screenplay from Ryan Holiday's nonfiction book, Conspiracy: Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker and the Anatomy of Intriguepublished in 2018.

The media reports that Gus Van Sant is in negotiations to direct Killing GawkerAs a curious fact, we tell you that Van Sant directed Affleck and Damon in the acclaimed Good Will Huntingfor which the pair won the Oscar for best screenplay.

Some reports indicate that Affleck could take on the lead role playing Hogan.

Affleck and Damon previously collaborated on the biopic Air, produced by their Artists Equity company. Affleck directed and co-starred in the 2023 film, which starred Damon as Nike employee Sonny Vaccaro, who staked the future of the struggling shoe company on a deal with then-NBA rookie Michael Jordan.

Van Sant's most recent feature film as a director is Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot (2018). This year he directed several episodes of the anthology series FeudHe has been nominated for the Oscar for best director twice, for Good Will Hunting y Milk.

THE GAWKER CASE

In November 2016, Gawker Media agreed to pay $31 million to Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, to settle a lawsuit filed by the famed wrestler over the company's publication of a clip from a sex tape of Hogan. The case centered on a 2012 article that included portions of the video filmed six years earlier, which led to the shutdown of Gawker's website.

Peter Thiel, the billionaire tech entrepreneur who co-founded PayPal, helped finance Hogan's lawsuit and is said to be a key character in the film, THR reports.
