Paramount Pictures is preparing audiences for the theatrical release next October of the sequel Smile 2the next installment that continues the events of the 2022 horror hit, Smilewith the return of the screenwriter and director Parker Finn.

The latest news confirms that The duration of the sequel is 2 hours and 1 minute, plus credits.slightly longer compared to the previous installment which had a duration of 1 hour and 55 minutes. The information was revealed by Bloody Digusting, the same media that shared a new look at one of the cast members, Lukas Gage (The White Lotus, Road House), playing Lewis, who, as seen in the trailers, does not have good things in store for him in the near future.

As a curious fact, we tell you that Paramount announced that tomorrow, Tuesday, September 3, it will be releasing a new official trailer. We will have it here as soon as it is published.

Smile 2 It stars Naomi Scott (Aladdin, Charlie’s Angels) as Skye Riley, a pop star soon to be dragged to Hell after a dressing room encounter with Lewis (Gage) who gave her a creepy smile before committing suicide. Skye is stalked by a demonic identity after witnessing her friend's suicide in her dressing room, passing the curse on to her.

The cast features the return of Kyle Gallner as Joel. Other new additions include Rosemarie DeWitt (The Staircase, Little Fires Everywhere), Dylan Gelula (Dream Scenario), Raul Castillo (Army of the Dead, Class of ’09), y Miles Gutierrez-Riley (The Wilds).

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:

“On the cusp of embarking on her next world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) begins to experience increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the mounting horrors and pressures of fame, Skye is forced to confront her dark past in order to take control of her life before it spirals out of control.”

The original delivery, Smilewritten and directed by Finn, grossed more than $217 million on a $17 million budget, with a good reception from critics and audiences, which is why Paramount didn't think twice and launched the sequel. Smile 2.

Smile marked Finn's debut as a feature film writer and director. He previously wrote and directed the short films The Hidebehind (2018), y Laura Hasn’t Slept (2020), the latter was precisely the inspiration to create Smile (you can watch the short film here).

Finn subsequently signed a multi-year first-look deal with Paramount, with the sequel being a priority. Parker will write, produce and direct horror projects through the deal with the studio. The deal does not include the recently announced remake of Possession which the filmmaker will make with Robert Pattinson, although Paramount is in the bidding to acquire its rights along with other major Hollywood studios.

Paramount Pictures will release Smile 2 in theaters the October 18, 2024.
