The biographical film of the true crime genre, Woman of the Hourwhich marks the debut of Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect, Up in the Air) as director, revealed this morning a new official teaser trailerwhich could easily be classified as a trailer since it lasts more than two minutes.
The plot tells the true story of serial killer Rodney Alcaláwho was in the middle of a murder spree when he appeared, participated in and won the dating TV show The Dating Game.
In addition to directing, Kendrick stars in the film as Cheryl Bradshaw, one of the contestants on the dating show, where she meets Alcalá (played by Daniel Zovatto).
In the preview, available at the end of this article, we see Cheryl on her date with Rodney, at a restaurant where she does not seem comfortable. He approaches her with an intense conversation and attitude, which for reasons unknown at the moment, provokes fear in her. When Rodney asks the waitress for another round of drinks, Cheryl signals the waitress not to, with a look full of fear.
As he leaves the place, Cheryl appears distant and in a hurry to get to her car. He, insistent, chases her into the darkness of the parking lot. End of the teaser trailer.
Kendrick directs the script for Ian MacAllister McDonald (Some Freaks).
The cast is led by Kendrick, and is joined by Zovatto (Don’t Breathe), Nicolette Robinson (One Night in Miami, Chicago Med), Tony Hale (Veep), Jedidiah Goodacre (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Kelley Jakle (franchise Pitch Perfect), Max Lloyd-Jones (When Calls the Heart), Geoff Gustafson (Wilderness).
True crime producers include Kendrick, Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, Stephen Crawford, Andrew Deane, JD Lifshitz.
After having its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023, where it emerged to applause, Woman of the Hour It was acquired by Netflix for distribution in the United States and other international markets, including Mexico and the rest of Latin America.
Its premiere was set on the streamer for October 18, 2024.
