The actor would join Kyle Chandler como Hal Jordan. Chandler has been in negotiations for a while and is expected to reach a deal soon, according to reports from Deadline.
The source says that Pierre got the role after an extensive search. In the final stages of the process, he had become one of the favorites to land the role alongside Stephen James.
This won't be the first time Pierre tries his luck in the superhero genre. From 2018 to 2019, he was part of the series Krypton from Syfy, whose plot revolved around the untold story of Superman's grandfather.
Pierre's other credits include the series The Underground Railroad by Barry Jenkins and Prime Video, and Genius: MLK/X from Hulu. In 2022 he starred in the film Brother by Clement Virgo, in 2023 he made the thriller Foe by Garth Davis, and this year he took over the lead role in Rebel Ridge by Jeremy Saulnier and Netflix. We will soon be able to hear it in the animated prequel of The Lion King, Mufasawhere he voices Simba's father. He is currently filming the third season of The Morning Show from Apple TV+.
The series of Chris Mundy (Ozark), Damon Lindelof (Watchmen) y Tom King, consists of 8 episodes. The plot follows new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.

Mundy is the showrunner, Lindelof and King are co-writers and executive producers, and James Hawes is the director of the first two episodes and executive producer.
John Stewart debuted in Green Lantern vol 2 #87, and was created by Dennis O'Neil and Neal Adams, as the latter's idea to replace Green Lantern. The original design was based on the iconic actor Sidney Poitier. He was DC's first black superhero.
