“Same night, different nightmare.”

Sony Pictures' Screen Gems kicks off the marketing campaign for the long-awaited film adaptation of the popular horror video game Until Dawn from PlayStation, sharing with the audience a first look where some of the talent gives some details of the film.

The project is led by David F. Sandberg (Annabelle Creation, Lights Out, Shazam) with script written by Gary Dauberman (IT, The Nun,  Annabelle) and original draft of Blair Butler (The Invitation, Polaroid).

In the sneak peek, available below, Sandberg teases about the film Until Dawn:

“People make different decisions and die in different ways. The movie has this mechanic, where things start over and they can try again. Every time they come back to life, it's like they're in a new horror genre. ”

The main cast is made up of Ella Rubin (The Idea of You), Michael Cimino (Never Have I Ever), Ji-young Yoo (Expats), y Odessa A'zion (Hellraiser), Maia Mitchell (The Fosters), Belmont Cameli (Based on a True Story, Saved by the Bell), y Peter Stormare (Fargo, John Wick 2) as Dr. Hill.

The hit horror video game follows eight friends who are trapped together in a remote mountain retreat and discover that they are not alone. Trapped by fear and with sky-high tensions, they must fight their fear if they want to survive the night unscathed.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:

“A year after her sister Melanie mysteriously disappeared, Clover and her friends head to the remote valley where she disappeared in search of answers. Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and gruesomely murdered one by one… only to wake up and find themselves again at the beginning of the same night. Trapped in the valley, they are forced to relive the nightmare over and over again, only each time the murderous threat is different, each more terrifying than the last. With hope dwindling, the group soon realizes that they have a limited number of kills left and the only way to escape is to survive until dawn.”

The film is described as “An R-rated love letter to the horror genre.”

Dauberman is producing the adaptation with his company Coin Operated alongside Sandberg, Roy Lee, Mia Maniscalco, Lotta Losten, Asad Qizilbash, and Carter Swan of PlayStation Productions. The executive producers are Hermen Hulst and Charles Miller.

Sony anticipates that the first trailer will be released soon. The film is scheduled for theatrical release for April 25, 2025.
