A24 This morning he revealed the trailer for his first horror film venture of 2025, Opusdescribed as a “striking pop horror” feature film, which in a few days will be celebrating its premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.
The progress of the project with which the filmmaker Mark Anthony Green debuts as a feature film director and screenwriter, invites the audience to the remote home of a legendary pop star, warning us that “There is no cult like celebrity.”
The plot focuses on Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) playing a journalist named Ariel who receives a mysterious invitation:
“A young writer is invited to the remote home of a legendary pop star who mysteriously disappeared 30 years ago. Surrounded by the star's cult of sycophants and drunken journalists, she finds herself in the middle of his twisted plan.
Written, Amber Middle Dogs (Prey), Juliette Lewis (Yelloswtone) y John Malkovich (Billions) make up the main cast along with Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus), Stephanie Suganami (Power Book II: Ghost), Young Teeth (Beef), y Tatanka Means (Killers of the Flower Moon).
This interpretation is written here “Meek but hungry journalist Ariel, whose unique charm radiates along with a distinctive final girl prescience. John Malkovich is effervescent and hypnotic as Moretti, a deified global phenomenon who makes a dramatically malevolent reintroduction.”
The film is also described as a “tense and psychosocial game of cat and mouse.”
The project features original music by Nile Rodgers.
A24 premieres OPUS March 14, 2025 in theaters.
