With a newly held premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, Bleecker Street released the Teaser trailer of the rum-like The Wedding Banqueta new and modern version of the classic Rom-Com Comer de Ang Lee of 1993. The remake is starring the Óscar-nominated actress, Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon) y Bowen Yang (Wicked).
In the advance of the co -manic and director's film Andrew Ahn (Fire Island), we see Gladstone and Yang trapped in a comedy of errors about a queer marriage, where they have to help plan a false wedding with Kelly Marie Tran (Skywalker trilogy Star Wars) y He gi-chan (Our Song). “Set in Seattle, the plot of The Wedding Banquet Follow Angela (Tran) and her girlfriend, Lee (Gladstone), who are trying to have a baby through IVF but cannot afford to pay another round of fertility treatment. Meanwhile, his friend Min (Han Gi-chan), an undercover heir from a multinational empire, has a student visa that is about to expire. When her boyfriend Chris (Yang) rejects his marriage proposal for several reasons, he asks Angela in place. From there, a wedding plot is weaved: A green card marriage in exchange for financing Lee's IVF. But his plans to escape in silence are disrupted when the grandmother of Min (Young Yuh-Jung) flies from Korea to meet her future political granddaughter and insists on organizing an extravagant wedding. In an interview since Sundance, Ahn told Variety that he did not believe that a remake was necessary, although he eventually interested in life because times have changed:
“Times have changed since 1993 for queer people. There was a new version of the story we could tell. We can marry. Now that we can marry, should we do it? Do we want to do it? As millennials, there is this load of choice. Change the generational approach and look to the future. ”
