This March the Electric Island series is celebrating its 20th birthday. In our Hey-Hey Podcast we look back with two current players: inside the organization team back and forward.
Electric Island is no doubt one of the most formative Leipzig party series for Techno and House of the Nuller and Tehner Years. When the first edition took place on December 10, 2004, this was by no means ahead. At this point, the Conne Island was hardly in Touch with electronic music after there were many pioneering parties in the nineties. However, the DIY of league and the small frame with exclusively locally occupied line-ups from Electric Island quickly hit a nerve in the city. “Nothing Can Come Close to this Familiar Feeling”, already aptly described the somehow intimate and pleasantly pulsating Vibe of this young series.
Later, Electric Island opened and actually opened and brought many important, stylish acts to Leipzig – Scuba, Efdemin, Lawrence, Alex Smoke, Margaret Dygas, Redshape, Shinedoe, Roman Flügel and Helena Hauff. On the Conne Island website, all parties of the past 20 years can be read again-with lots of nostalgia for everyone who was a guest there during this time. In recent years it has become quieter around the row. The Leipzig club culture has developed further and in Iceland the topic of electronic music also moved into the background. Certainly also because the hype around Electric Island went hand in hand with some challenges.
