From the promotional material launched with the marketing campaign created by New Line Cinema y Warner Bros.the terror project Weapons of the screenwriter and director Zach Creggerit was outlined as a proposal of the genre with the necessary ingredients to become another success of terror.

And we are talking about the second feature film of Cregger's genre, a filmmaker who in 2022 gave us one of the largest horror hits of the year: Barbarian.

The premise of the one entitled in our market as The time of disappearance is the following: One night, At 2:17 am, 17 children of the same kind of a small city, mysteriously disappear. The disappearances are captured by images of the security cameras of their homes. In them, children are seen fleeing into the dark of the night, running with their arms extended in the same rigid formation.

What or who is behind your disappearance?

The fault immediately falls to the children's professor at the Maybrook Elementary School, Justine Gray (played by Julia Garner), who desperately seeks the truth. Josh Brolin He plays Archer Graff, the father of one of the missing girls, who is suspected that only the boys of Justine's class have disappeared.

Weapons Evokes cinematographic style of Barbarianeven sharing a couple of similarities that we will not do any spoiler, but that makes it quite clear that this is a Zach Cregger movie.

The plot also develops with a Similar tone and narrative structure Not only a Barbarianbut a Magnolia of Paul Thomas Andersonallowing the audience rebuild the facts from the perspective of different charactersuntil reaching a third disturbing and spooky act, with an outstanding camera work.

Terror is constructed slowly and methodically, but once the different points of view are combined and there is nothing to stop it. The gore is intenseand some scenes might seem too graphic to the most sensitive stomach audience, but we must not doubt it, behind every detail there is a reason.

The mystery wraps our characters, this being one of its best qualities, because as the plot takes place and the layers begin to be discovered, the pieces fit and The end is executed with care and precision.

The film is well written, and the interpretations of the entire cast – adult and small – are convincing, emotional, and phenomenal.

Zach Cregger masterfully combines the tension, horror, and black humorwith an original and well written script, to make Weapons One of the most outstanding proposals of 2025 horror cinema. And it is not something less, because we are talking about a year where we already had the launch of Sinners. Horror cinema is gaing.
