A 90s rave in the middle of the Leipzig center? On August 15th there will actually be-as the highlight of an interesting Leipzig exhibition in the city historical Musuem. There is more information here.

“Between the departure and the handling. The 90s in Leipzig” is the name of an interesting exhibition in the city history museum, which document the wild, almost anarchic first years in Leipzig. In the middle of the political and social upheavals, an intensive off-culture life was created in the many suddenly fallow houses and industrial buildings from 1990. And techno was the soundtrack of that time, among other genres such as hardcore or metal. The exhibition in the Böttchergäßchen house runs until September 7, 2025-including some exhibits from former techno locations, including the steel door and the counter of the old Distillery.

Three weeks before, the city historical museum invites you to a very special event: “Remember 90s Rave Culture Open Air-Soundtrack of the Transformation: Leipzig and its techno scene”. With a vinyl-only-day rave, the sound of Leipzig clubs such as the base, the old Distillery and the Opera Dancehall can be immersed in the sound of Leipziger Club in between. Because with Cora S., DJ Jens and DJ XL, three acts play, which were very active in Leipzig in the early nineties and played this moving time decisively with their plates. With Gili (II.R) B2B Alina there is also B2B that opens a connection to today's Leipzig club scene.

Accompanying the day at 4 p.m. there is a panel discussion on the subject of “between ecstasy and displacement-the Leipzig techno scene from 1992 to the present day”, in which Cora S. and DJ Jens give some exciting insights into the early techno time and its great transformation into the present day. Information stands and a plate flea market are also planned.

Admission to everything is free – big tip from us.
