This week on the billboard films for all tastes: from the skeptical view on love in Materialist by Celine Song, until the real tension of Without oxygen by Alex Parkinson. Another vision of romance takes shape with Love in four letters from Polly Steele, and the comic tangle appears in Madly of Paolo Genovese. In addition, we find three essential re -stersons: the criminal intrigue of Nine queens Directed by FabiƔn Bielinsky, the memorable neighborhood satire of The community from Ɓlex de la Iglesia and the Eternal Suspended from Shark by Steven Spielberg. A selection as varied as stimulating for those who seek more than simple evasion in current cinema.

Materialist (Celine Song, 2025)

The casuemera (Dakota Johnson) that absolutely stars this story does not believe in love; Consider that marriage is a contract to compensate for loneliness and, in many cases, take advantage of. But life is already known, always surprises … and goes against. With cloying and mediocre music development (the prologue of CromaƱones da Pena), I think it has value for sociological notes about what singles seek in networks and agencies. For spectators/is skeptical or with sentimental doubts.

Without oxygen (Alex Parkinson, 2025)

No oxygen (Alex Parkinson, 2025)

The real story of the rescue of a diver does not give much of itself cinematographically, no matter how much we are deeply excited. Here is seasoned with good rhythm, epic music and a sentimental explanation for the unprecedented event that the protagonist returns to life without sequelae after half an hour without oxygen. It looks good and moves, but it is a minor piece.

Love in four letters (Polly Steele, 2024)

Love in four letters (Polly Steele, 2024)

The original is “four love letters” and has its explanation for the argument; Here it is poured with that title as random and free as the film itself, which is presented as a romantic drama when the love story is swallowed at the final 20 minutes. The rest, many digressions and culturalist touches (father of him widowed and painter, father poet of her) and locations of the Irish coast certainly suggestive. Expendable.

Madly (Paolo Genovese, 2025)

Locally (Paolo Genovese, 2025)

It does not exceed the first half hour of a comedy that shows the most known mimbres of the topics on leagues, women's rivalries/men, wardrobe Donjuanes, etc. Genovese has a trade, but everything seems known here and a little rancid, the truth.

Nine queens (FabiƔn Bielinsky, 2000)

Nine queens (FabiƔn Bielinsky, 2000)

This title is already part of the select cycle of stories that play with the point of view and bullfight the viewer with a story that is another. All actors are great and give credibility to characters that, by definition, are impostors. We still applaud more those who enjoy the films of scammers and fine thieves.

The community (Ɓlex de la Iglesia, 2000)

The community (Ɓlex de la Iglesia, 2000)

On the character of Carmen Maura Pivota this black comedy with sperpent trim over a community of residents shell to get no less black money. Ɓlex de la Iglesia gives a powerful visual attraction to a story with perverse characters, except for the protagonist, a half -age woman surviving all the battles, starting with the mediocre husband to whom he says goodbye (which today allows a feminist reading) and the young “freak” of “the war of the galaxies”, triumphant despite his mother castor. It is enjoyed.

Shark (Steven Spielberg, 1975)

Shark (Steven Spielberg, 1975)

The half century after the premiere of one of Spielberg's most applauded films reveals at least three things: Spielberg is a capable commercial director, such as Hitchcock, to handle the emotions of the spectator and take him where he wants; The soundtrack is a fundamental component in horror movies; And the stories of this cinema always serve to tell something about the human condition or about our society, in this case, the contempt of local authorities for beaches security in order to foster tourism. Today the films are more baroque, but “shark” is already like a classic that looks very good.
