Flamengo surpasses Fluminense and leads Carioca in volleyball

O Sesc Flamengo won the Fluminense by 3 sets to 1, this Thursday (9), and took the lead in the first phase of the Carioca volleyball championship. With this result away from home, at Hebraica, the red-black team secured the right to decide the title as home team, at Tijuca Tênis Clube, at 8:30 pm (Brasília time) next Monday (13).

The team led by Bernardinho scored nine points in the competition, surpassing Fluminense, who remained with seven. With splits of 25-17, 25-12, 19-25 and 25-21, Flamengo came out on top in the “rematch” against Tricolor Carioca. In the first duel between the teams, the red and black team was comfortably defeated by their opponents by 3 sets to 1.

Coming directly from the Brazilian team, the opposite Tainara stood out as the main scorer of the match with 22 hits. Wingers Simone Lee and Karina also contributed significantly to the Red and Black triumph, scoring 20 and 16 points, respectively.

Carioca volleyball championship started with great disputes

The 2025 Carioca Championship had only three participants: Sesc RJ Flamengo, Fluminense and Tijuca Tênis Clube. The competition was played in a round-robin format, with the two clubs with the best performance qualifying for the final.

In the first phase, Flamengo had three wins in four games. The team beat Tijuca 3-0 on two occasions (October 1 and 7) and beat Fluminense in the last round. The only defeat occurred on October 3, when Tricolor won 3-1.
