'Predator: Badlands' gets PG-13 rating

After much speculation about what the official classification of Predator: Badlandstoday the PG-13 is confirmed.

The Motion Picture Association (MPA), the organization in charge of granting age ratings to all film projects from major Hollywood studios, god a Badlands Rating PG-13 by:

“Sequences of strong science fiction violence.”

This makes it the first Predator solo film with a PG-13 rating. The rest of the Predator installments have been Rated R, with the exception of Alien vs. Predator.

Even Prey (2022) y Predator: Killer of Killers (2025), the two films in the saga by the director Then Trachtenberg They were also Rated R.

It is important to clarify that This does not mean that there is no violence.. In Badlands there are no human characters –but creatures and androids– that being a factor to take that helps avoid R rating of the MPA.

In BadlandsTrachtenberg returns to writing and directing after the success of Prey and the recent animated anthology film Predator: Killer of Killers.

The android Thia is played by Elle Fanningwhile the Yautja warrior Dek is played by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi.

Unlike the previous films in the franchise, here the Predator is the protagonist, not the antagonist.

And in case you missed it, Fanning will be playing double roles as two synthetics from the Weyland.Yutani corporation. One of its characters is the aforementioned Thia, an android from the WY corporation – whose origins connect her with another iconic saga of the studio, Alien–, who ends up making an alliance with a young Predator, marginalized from his clan. His other synthetic, of which we do not have a name at the moment, seems to be on the hunt for the young Predator and Thia.

SYNOPSIS:

Predator: Wild Lands is set on a remote alien planet where a young predatoroutcast from his clan, find an unexpected ally a Thia (Fanning) y He embarks on a dangerous journey in search of his ultimate adversary.

During his appearance at CinemaCon, Fanning revealed that his character would team up with the Predator, saying, “Something unprecedented happens in this movie, and my character is not the one being persecuted. My character allies himself with the Predatorand they can see it from a new perspective.”

Trachtenberg has been talking about getting the audience on the Predator's side for a few months now. Last November he said, “The creature is front and center, leading the charge. It's still tough, but there's something there that moves you emotionally, too.”

Trachtenberg wrote the script for Badlands next to Patrick Aison (Prey).

The film is produced by Trachtenberg, John Davis, Marc Toberoff, Ben Rosenblatt, and Brent O'Connor.

20th Century Studios plans to release Predator: Wildlands in cinemas and IMAX theaters on November 6, 2025 in Mexico and the rest of Latin America and on November 7 in the United States and Canada. It will include features in all premium formats.
