'Hocus Pocus 3': Thora Birch is “super willing” to return as Dani Dennison

After the good reception it had Hocus Pocus 2 to premiere in 2022 on Disney+, the streamer gave the green light in June 2023, when development of the third installment of your franchise Hocus Pocus.

The most recent news reveals that Trackone of the original cast members of the first installment in 1993, raises her hand, at the possibility of repeating her role in the next sequel, Hocus Pocus 3.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Birch spoke to the outlet about her return as Dani Dennison, saying:

“Yes, I would like to know what idea you have about how Dani ended up. I am totally open to the idea”.

Birch was 11 years old when Disney released the first installment of Hocus Pocusplaying Dani, the youngest member of the Dennison family. Although the film did not have a great box office success upon its release, since then it has garnered a large number of followers, and has catapulted itself as a favorite of the Halloween season, and a cult classic.

About the poor reception Hocus Pocus had in 1993, Birch said:

“It was devastating when it came out. It was a total failure and we were all disappointed because we loved making it. We were like, 'What? You don't like it?', and ten years later, they tell us: 'My God, are you the girl from Hocus Pocus?”.

Although Birch expressed interest in the idea, he admits that the prospect is open-ended, stating:

“They like to talk about these things, so we'll see.”

Hocus Pocus released its first sequel in 2022, featuring the return of the original protagonist trio, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker y Kathy Najimyand the absence of the Dennison family. Viewings on Disney+ were a total success, reaching 2,700 minutes of viewing during its opening weekend on the platform.

Midler, by the way, in the summer of 2024 asked Disney to “speed up” with the script for the third installment. Finally, in recent weeks, the actress had the opportunity to read a draft that she described as “brilliant.”

In a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Midler shared the following:

“Well, you know, they sent a script, and a lot of it was brilliant. So I got really excited, and now we're trying to figure out what it is, where it will be, how much it will cost, and all those logistical things.”
