SYNOPSIS:

“Marty Supreme, an original work set in the world of 1950s ping-pong culture, stars Timothée Chalamet as Marty Mauser, a young man with a dream that no one respects, who goes to hell and back in search of greatness.”

Safdie (Uncut Gems) wrote the script with Ronald Bronstein (Uncut Gems).

The film is not a biopic, however the story is loosely inspired by the life of Marty Reisman, a hustler turned ping pong champion who became the oldest to win a national racket sports competition, at the age of 67. Reisman was a champion for decades, taking third place in the 1948 World Table Tennis Championships, a doubles medal in the 1952 edition, among other achievements. His greatest success in the last stage of his career came in 1997, when he won the United States National Table Tennis Championship, already in his sixties. He was the author of the seminal book in the world of table tennis, “The Money Player, The Confessions of America's Greatest Table Tennis Player and Hustler.” Reisman passed away in 2012.

The producers are Safdie, Eli Bush and Anthony Hatagas.

A24 premieres Marty Supreme in US theaters on December 25, and in Mexico on January 1, 2026 con Diamond Films.
