La saga de terror found footage Paranormal Activityhas a special place in Blumhousesince it marked the starting engine of the successful production company of Jason Blum.

There are seven films that make up the franchise, the most recent of which is titled Paranormal Activity: Next of Kinwhich premiered exclusively on Paramount+ in October 2021. Later and after the poor reception of the sequel, Blum spoke about concluding the saga, being open to the possibility of a next paranormal activity just in case you have “a great idea”.

Apparently, that great idea has come to fruition, and everything from the merger between the Blumhouse companies of Blum and Atomic Monster of James Wancreator of horror franchises such as Saw, Insidious y The Conjuring.

According to THR reports, Wan will be one of the producers, along with Blum, of a new delivery of paranormal activitywhich will be supported by Paramount Pictures to co-finance, co-produce and distribute the film.

Oren Pelidirector and screenwriter of the original 2007 installment that became a box office phenomenon, will be another of the producers with the company Solana Films.

He theatrical release is a priority for both Paramount and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster.

Wan stated in a press release:

“I've been a big fan of Paranormal Activity since the brilliant first film, with its haunting pacing and subtle ability to make the invisible terrifying. I'm looking forward to expanding its legacy and contributing to the next evolution of this terrifying found footage franchise.”

Blum added:

“Diving in with James into this exciting revival of the franchise that started it all for Blumhouse is exactly what we dreamed of when we merged with Atomic Monster. I'll be actively involved with him in introducing this new chapter. Luckily, we can spend a little more than the $15,000 we invested on the first film, but one thing will remain the same: Don't watch it alone.”

“We look forward to collaborating with Josh Greenstein, Dana Goldberg, David Ellison, Jeff Shell and their teams at Paramount to revive Paranormal Activity”.

The first Paranormal Activity (2007), carried out with technique found footage scripted and directed by Oren Peli, it had a micro budget of $15,000 USD, breaking the box office collecting $193 million dollars worldwide, and establishing itself as one of the most profitable film projects of all time.

This would be a production model that would set the standard for Blumhouse: micro budget and high performance at the box office.

The six sequels derived from the first film, Paranormal Activity 2 (2010), Paranormal Activity 3 (2011), Paranormal Activity 4 (2012), The Marked Ones (2014), The Ghost Dimension (2015), y Next of Kin (2021), They explored mythology exposed in the original argument, connecting to each other.

The seven films have a combined global box office of $891 million, against a total budget of $28 million.

Steven Schneider will executive produce alongside Michael Clear and Judson Scott.
