'Tomb Raider' live-action series signs Jason Isaacs

A new member has been announced for the cast of the live-action series of Tomb Raider which is prepared in Prime Video of Amazon MGM Studios.

It is about Jason Isaacswhom this year we were able to enjoy in the third season of The White Lotus of HBO, a performance for which he was nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe for best supporting actor.

At the moment there are no details about the role that Isaacs will play (via Deadline).

If you add up to Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) in a leading role playing the next Lara Croftfollowing in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander, to the British actor Martin Bobb-Semple (All American: Homecoming), already Sigourney Weaver (Alien, Avatar) in negotiations to assume a role for which no details have been given.

The series Tomb Raider is developed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), and has credit as creator, screenwriter, and executive producer of the series, and coshowrunner alongside Chad Hodgewho will also executive produce and Jonathan van Tulleken (Shogun), who will also be the director and another of the executive producers.

In January 2023, it was announced that Amazon MGM Studios was building an entire universe of Tomb Raidergiving in the first instance the green light to this live-action series, in addition to a video game, and a new movie, this after acquiring the property rights.

The role of Lara Croft was played in two films by Jolie, and later by Vikander in the 2018 reboot.

It remains to be seen where Turner's Croft will be presented. Vikander's version was heavily inspired by the 2013 reboot of the game, with a stylistic twist from Jolie's more extravagant version. What will not be lacking will be action, abundant relics and a new perspective on mythology.

The series Tomb Raider is produced by Story Kitchem Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios. Executive producers are Waller-Bridge, Jenny Robins, Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, Timothy I. Stevenson, Michael Scheel, Hodge, van Tulleken, and Legendary Television.
