Primatethe filmmaker's next project Johannes Roberts will lead him to venture back into the horror genre, after making The Other Side of the Door (2016), 47 Meters Down (2017) and the sequel 47 Meters Down: Uncaged (2019), The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018), y Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021).
The feature film, co-written and directed by Roberts for Paramount Pictures, focuses on a paradise vacation of a group of friends traveling to Hawaii, which becomes complicated when Ben, the family's pet chimpanzee, turns against his master and everyone around him.
In a behind-the-scenes video shared by Paramount, Roberts explains about Ben:
“Ben is a chimpanzee who is the heart and soul of the family. [Pero] When he starts to lose his mind, you have this incredibly powerful teddy bear, who can tear you limb from limb, but that's just the beginning.”
The protagonist, Johnny Sequoyah (Dexter: New Blood), who plays Lucy, gives a little more context to Ben's arrival into the family, saying:
“Lucy's mom, a linguistics teacher, brought Ben home, and they had an instant connection. He really is a little brother, and a member of the Pinborough family.”
Victoria Wyant (Foundation), who plays Kate, adds:
“There's a moment where something happens to Ben. He's definitely not himself.”
