Mike Flanagan will once again enter the world of Stephen Kingtaking charge of the script and direction of a new adaptation of the acclaimed novel The Mistin another collaboration with Warner Bros.according to Deadline reports.
The filmmaker previously adapted other King literary works such as Gerald’s Game (2017), Doctor Sleep (2019), distributed by WB, and The Life of Chuck (2025). Right now he is working on adaptations in series format of The Dark Tower y Carrie with house on Prime Video.
In addition to writing the script and directing the project, Flanagan will produce it through Red Room alongside Tyler Thompson, Spyglass' Gary Barber, and Chris Stone. Alexandra Magistro will be the executive producer.
In The Mista small town in Maine is enveloped in a thick and mysterious fog from which creatures emerge and attack its inhabitants. A group of survivors take refuge in a local supermarket. As is often the case in King's fiction, anarchy and social reorganization bring out the best in some and the worst in others, unleashing a mob mentality and empowering deranged extremists who become as dangerous as the horrors outside.
The novella originated in King's short story collection, Skeleton Crew, and was previously adapted into a film in 2007 and a television series in 2017.
Flanagan has made horror films received by critics and audiences such as Oculus (2013), Hush (2016), Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016), and those mentioned, Gerald’s Game y Doctor Sleep (2019); On the small screen he has been the creator and director of series such as The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, The Midnight Cluby The Fall of the House of Usher.
